Aveda’s Jon Reyman styles sleek and minimalist hair for the Betsey Johnson autumn winter 2012 show at New York Fashion Week.

“Betsey’s collection is a celebration of the 1960’s, when she began her career in fashion,” says Reyman.  “The hair styling echoes the era’s silhouette in a straightforward and youthful way; it’s reminiscent of Twiggy.”

BRAID STYLING STEP-BY-STEP

1.   Prep damp hair with Aveda Smooth Infusion Style-Prep Smoother.

2.   Spray hair from roots to ends with Aveda Volumizing Tonic and blow dry straight with an Aveda Wooden Paddle Brush.

3.   Create a low side part on the right side of the head.

4.   Gather the hair into a side ponytail on the left side of the head, just at the nape and below the ear.  Secure with an elastic.

5.   Take a small section of hair from the underside of the ponytail, closer to the face, and wrap around the elastic to hide it completely.  Secure with a U-pin and Aveda Control Force Firm Hold Hair Spray

6. Create a three-strand braid and secure at the end with an elastic.

7.   Again, wrap the elastic with hair, pulling from the loose ends at the bottom of the braid.  This small section may be curled with an iron to make wrapping easier.

8.   Secure wrapped piece with Aveda Control Force Firm Hold Hair Spray, and tie with thread the same color as the hair, if needed.

Finish the look with Aveda Control Force Firm Hold Hair Spray.
